Thursday, September 22


Bar-10 Ranch – 65 miles from Bloomington


Take Bloomington exit off freeway and travel east to River Road.Travel south to airport road overpass and beginning of dirt road called Main Street Valley Road.Travel 52 miles south through Arizona Strip to Bundyville passing Quail Draw, Seegmiller Mountain, and Wolf Hole Valley.At Bundyville intersection with historic Mt. Trumbull Schoolhouse Museum, continue south 13 miles to Bar-10 Ranch.

 
AFTERNOON

Ride down to Whitmore Canyon Overlook (11 miles) overlooking lower Grand Canyon Gorge and maybe take another excursion to Pa’s Pocket before returning to Bar-10 Ranch.

MORNING RIDE – Toroweap (87 miles):


Leaving Bar-10 Ranch, ride over to Mt. Trumbull, 8,028', passing over Mt. Logan, 7,700', take >1064 for stop at Hell’s Hole Overlook, and on to vista-view of Valley at end of road through wilderness area.Option: visit Indian petroglyphs at Nampaweap (2 mile round trip).At Mt. Trumbull Ranger Station, travel by Tuweep and on to Toroweap Overlook.With longest drops of anywhere else in the park at Toroweap Point, look 2,500 ft. straight down on Lava Falls, one of worst rapids in Grand Canyon.

 
LUNCH 14:00  Bar-10 Ranch

 
AFTERNOON RIDE – Frog Springs or Pa’s Pocket and Red Mountain Overlook

  1. Explore Frog Springs (36 miles roundtrip)
  2. Pa's Pocket, small dam built by father of Atwood Bundy.   Ride over to Red Mountain Overlook and witness spectacular view of Colorado River.

Saturday, September 24


BREAKFAST 07:30  Bar-10 Ranch


Whitmore Point (58 miles)

    
Take turn-off to Mesa and >1063 trail to Parashant Canyon view, then to Whitmore Point Overlook.  Ride a short distance back to Parashant Canyon Overlook. Travel on >1063 to Parashant Canyon road.  (Option: explore Parashant Canyon, 20 miles).  Return to Bar-10 Ranch via Bundyville.

Lodging


After confirming with ride leader, you must make an advanced reservation at Bar-10 Ranch (435-628-4010) with Sara Christensen for two days of lodging.The cost is $226.50 (includes tax) for two nights and three days including breakfast, dinner, and two lunches.The lodge has individual, covered-wagon accommodations, bunk-bed style rooms, and hot showers.
