Baja San Felipe Ride Information 2006

Hello All,

This is an invitation to attend another UTMA ride in Baja Mexico. The ride will be conducted in like manner as in years’ past. It will again include a small service project in the community of Los Arcos.

The San Felipe 250 conducted by SCORE will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25, 2006. The UTMA ride schedule will allow participants an opportunity to arrive a day early in Baja and witness the race if they so choose. The SCORE San Felipe 250 presents some difficulty in obtaining rooms for that weekend, but we have a block of rooms reserved and promised to us at Hotel Costa Azul. Reservations can also be made at Hotel El Cortez and Hotel Riviera.

In addition to small, individual groups led by a group leader, we will have a separate group riding ATV’s. This group will be led by Karr Farnsworth. We ask that all those who are registered and will be riding an ATV coordinate with Karr. A problem with ATV’s in Baja is riding on pavement. There are two drawbacks here, (1) local police might give us some grief riding on the highways, and (2) ATV’s are not cutout for long transitions on pavement. We will take these into consideration with our routing.

We have had an interest from women-spouses coming down with riders with a desire of staying in San Felipe during the week of the ride. Please let us know so that we can make up a list for correspondence purposes before arriving in Mexico.

Greg Bunker will be in charge of putting together routes. Russ Martin has also indicated he would assist with route input. This will allow us to plan both challenging and interesting routes for everyone who participates.
